I don’t cook, but I kinda do

My cooking is quick.

My cooking is easy.

I feel like I’m cheating a bit when I cook, and good for me! Now, I don’t buy fresh veggies, I buy frozen ones. I tried to do fresh, really I did, but they kept going bad on me. Plus, I don’t feel like washing and carving them up. That takes too much time. Instead, pre-cut fajita mix peppers and onions are my go to. The most carving I do is cutting open a corner of the package.

…..And that is cheat number one.

Next is my protein. Again, I look for a pre-cut, fresh product. My choice is either chicken or salmon. It’s a diet decision to use those proteins. It’s simple and easy, open up the package and they appear. Whoosh! These are never frozen nor touched by my hands. These items are cut, de-boned and cleaned. Perfect!

…..And that is cheat number two.

How to assemble everything is next. One dish, never separate for that means more dishes to clean. I’m not into doing dishes or scrubbing pots. Rinse and place in the dishwasher kinda guy here. All the items needed for my meal are assembled, sprinkled and layered with items I didn’t need, nor want, to prep. Sauces are out of jars. As we know, veggies come from the freezer and the proteins are pre-cut/portioned. Easy peasy! It takes me all of 5 minutes to put this together, if that. Into the oven and Viola! Forty-five minutes later, I’m chowing.

…..and that is cheat number three.

I gotta say I’ve perfected this type meal preparation. Hell, my lunch takes me more time to prepare than dinner. Cleaning and cutting celery is VERY time consuming. I have graduated to using a sauce-pan now, but that just means everything is in that rather than a baking dish. More of a goulashy dish when prepared this way while still keeping the amount of dirty pans to is minimum.

Cooking for some is arduous, for me, it’s a snap. Maybe not the most healthy, but it ain’t far off. It’s much better than getting carry-out all the time. Cheaper also. Plus, and this is the bonus, no recipe is required with my cooking. Just throw and go. Done.

…..and that is cheat number four.
